A grand antique Victorian guard chain from the late 19th Century consisting of ornate 9ct gold cable links, leading to a claw clasp at the bottom that would have traditionally been adorned with a pocket watch, lorgnette, or muff.
It measures an impressive 56 inches in length and has a good, solid weight and pleasing patina. It can be worn as one long chain that was traditionally tucked into a belt or looped twice around the neck to create two festoons of gold.
